About Us

The Whitworth School, Inc. offers a strong junior kindergarten-eighth grade curriculum while making the educational process fun. How students are taught is what makes us truly unique.

Students receive personalized reading and math instruction in their early years. Children learn reading as young as three years old! Our classes are kept small (no more than 10) which allows the students to receive the personalized instruction and attention they deserve. Our program is designed not only to teach academics, but also to provide a strong foundation in the areas of art, music, poetry, and physical education. Our program encourages students to step outside the classroom and help build a better world through various community service projects. Our emphasis is on the students gaining life skills that they will retain forever. We believe learning should not be about cramming for a test but should be about learning the material so they can apply it in everyday life.

Our Philosophy

We believe students should master their basic tools very well. Reading, writing and math skills are honed to full proficiency while also immersing the students in the arts, physical and social sciences, foreign language and projects so they can apply their knowledge in life.

We also treat each student as an individual and the students' programs are tailored to their individual needs and interests. We want the child to have a positive attitude about learning so we choose committed teachers who inspire and motivate.

We give students study tools they can use not only today, but for the rest of their lives. By understanding the fundamentals of the learning process, our students discover that any lack of success in learning can usually be traced back to their failure to fully understand the words in the subject. We show them that understanding the meanings of words makes the difference between being able to act or do in any subject or not.

Students also learn they should study with a purpose. Once a student learns to study and has a purpose, the world is their canvas.

Study Technology

The study methods we teach are those developed by the American author and educator L. Ron Hubbard. He identified the basic barriers that prevent a student from understanding. Once a student learns the early warning signs for lack of comprehension, and what actions to take to resolve these difficulties, he can study with success. Using this approach, a student becomes a confident, enthusiastic and independent learner.
